Yi-Hsin Tzeng
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Yi-Hsin Tzeng received her BFA from National Taiwan Normal University. In 2007, Tzeng relocated to the United States and attended the Savannah College of Art and Design where she was awarded a full tuition Fellowship in the MFA painting program. She was also the recipient of several artist residencies including Elizabeth Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, and Ox-Bow. Tzeng continues to investigate the shape and color of human desire using various media, including painting, video, installation, and sculpture.
Her most recent work My Magazine Project is an on-going publishing project, which borrows images from popular publications and then reproduces a new magazine every two months. The action of defacing and appropriating reveals a personal comment toward female bodies in order to establish a regurgitated aesthetic as well as proclaiming a regained control toward images.
