Mary O’Horo, a visual artist based in Atlanta, has a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and a Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. Her solo exhibitions include the Georgia Institute of Technology and Mercer University. Juried and invitational group exhibitions include the Marcia Wood Gallery, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and Meredith College, among others.
Her investigations are influenced by art and scientific interests. The work ranges from traditional media in painting and drawing, to integrating those methods with multimedia explorations (sound, digital media). The abstract paintings and drawings are hybrids; the result of scientific investigations encountering formalist strategies and transformation. Associations, fragments and inventions are visible in her work. Abstraction prevails; the paintings and drawings present a visual language that in the end creates its own reality.
