Plastic Haircuts and Good Times: A Tribute to Robert Nelson

Andy Ditzler’s Film Love series is now a staple at ACAC. Moving image enthusiasts are treated to films that are nearly impossible to access, plus Andy’s thoughtful commentary. This time around, he pays tribute to avant-garde filmmaker Robert Nelson (1930-2012). The films Nelson made in 1960s San Francisco are enduring records of artistic friendship, with an intuitive anarchic humor that still sparkles today. The titles of his films –– Thick Pucker, Hot Leatherette, The Great Blondino, and Sixty Lazy Dogs –– give a sense of his poetic, freewheeling absurdity.
