takes a walk on the Westside!

Saturday, February 20, 11 am – 5 pm

While we are closed for installation, Bobbe Gillis Gallery, Kiang Gallery, Octane Coffee, and Saltworks Gallery each host artist Mel Chin’s FUNDRED Dollar Bill Project during the Westside Arts District 3rd Saturday Art Walk. Kids of all ages are invited to show that Atlanta cares about New Orleans by drawing a FUNDRED Dollar Bill, your own interpretation of a U.S. $100 bill – no art skills required. This nationwide project is raising awareness and money to combat the lead polluted soils of New Orleans. To learn more visit, www.fundred.org. Opening: Substitute Teacher

Friday, March 5, 2010
Patron Member Preview, 7 – 8 pm, by invitation
Public Opening, 8 – 10 pm
Remarks, 8:15 pm

What is a substitute teacher? Typically, it is a person who fills in for the regular teacher when he or she is unavailable. For our purposes, a substitute teacher is any being, situation, or object that has the potential to impart knowledge. Substitute Teacher acts as an alternative syllabus for art-life learning. The installed artworks, the participating artists, the curators, the exhibition, and the institution can all be considered “substitute teachers” that encourage visitors to assess and challenge their own wealth of knowledge while embarking on new journeys of discovery. Curated by Regine Basha and Artistic Director Stuart Horodner.
